One thing that has become a very prominent lesson in my life the past year has been the importance of communication.

The importance of being heard.. and of wanting to communicate your deepest truths. The way one conversation can save a relationship.. and how when voice is abandoned it can all fall into ruin.

I have lost good friends this year and gained good friends as well.

One that meant a lot to me.. I lost.

I lost it because I could not bring myself to speak my truth. I was scared of controversy.. and of voicing something that she may not have liked to hear. But now looking back. I wish I would have.. because a moment of un comfortability in sincerity is worth so much in all it can bring. Sometimes it is the only way across that mountain and into the beauty of that valley that lies below.

but I think "maybe that friend ship was meant to die.." and yet.. there was no conclusion.. no understanding because I left. I didn't know how to communicate my feelings and I felt so many different conflicting ways.

I learned this year that voice is everything. It is a tool that should never be abandoned. Communication is what connects us all. Its what helps our sorrows.. and also what untangles misconceptions and misunderstandings. Even when you are scared of how someone may feel about your truth.. it is always better to communicate it.. rather than left it unsaid.

If you have love in your heart for whom you are with.. communicate what you must.

You don't always need to communicate in person.. sometimes it is better to write it out over email... that way you can revise.. and really get your point out.. exactly as you mean it. Sometimes in speaking.. our fears have a way of tangling up our truths on the way out of our mouths.. so by the time they reach the target ears.. they aren't perceived as you want them to.

"Sometimes friendships die out-

a fire once alive and hearthful

blown out by one action

of unawareness and fear.

Coals orange with hope of resurrection

sit side by side

eventually dimming and

then completely dying

becoming cold.

There is hope for these coals

to be lit once again

dancing within their fertile fire,

and yet that takes much work,

you must be with the cold indifferent coals,

you must aid them to warmth once again

Through truths untold.. and new compassions embraced.

But sometimes coals go out never to be awoken again.

And thats okay too.

Because eventually those coals will become something beautiful,

those friendships dead turning into diamonds.

As lessons learned and memories kept."

Dont be afraid to communicate! It could save your heart from allot of heartache.
